The Fréau forest, an 800-hectare state-owned forest, borders the Vallée des Saints site to the east. It extends along the Aulne until it reaches the Goasq quarry to the west.

This state-owned forest is located in the communes of Poullaouen and Scrignac and is governed by the French forestry regime.
The Fréau state forest is managed by the ONF in accordance with the French Forestry Code.

The GR 37, which passes at the foot of the Vallée des Saints, runs through the Fréau forest for more than ten kilometres before joining the Huelgoat forest.

The Fréau forest makes up 85% of the type II ZNIEFF (natural zone of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest) of the Forêt de Fréau.
