Presented at the start of the 2017 academic year to first-year apprentices on the vocational diploma in stone trades at the Unicem Campus (1) in Louvigné du Désert, the project to design and build “korribancs” has excited the young people and their instructors, as it involves several stages
- Firstly, a period of research into the korrigans: their stories, legends and characteristics.
- Then, once the granite blocks had been delivered by a local granite producer, the first ideas had to be adapted to the characteristics of the blocks.
Two benches were thus created, the “house” bench and the “roots” bench.
In 2019, the adventure continues for the Campus Unicem apprentices with two new korribancs called “Trône du korrigan”.
Every year since then, new korribancs have been carved on the La Vallée des Saints site from off-cuts of granite blocks.
